El musical rompedor de barreras "La Cage aux Folles" se estrenó en Broadway en 1983 y ganó seis premios Tony, incluidos los de Mejor musical, Mejor banda sonora y Mejor libreto. El espectáculo cuenta la historia de Georges, el gerente de un club nocturno de Saint-Tropez que ofrece espectáculos de drag queens, y Albin, su pareja romántica y la atracción estrella. La locura se desata cuando el hijo de George trae a casa a su prometida y a sus padres ultraconservadores para que los conozcan. Este musical se basó en la obra original de 1973, que también fue la base de la película "The Birdcage" de 1996.

Se supone que no se puede fumar puros en Belén, y aunque estos niños nunca han oído la historia de Navidad, definitivamente tienen versiones reescritas. Pronto, todo el mundo pide a la reticente directora Grace Bradley que cancele todo el proyecto. Depende de los Bradley y del reverendo ayudar a su comunidad a ver la historia de Navidad y a los niños Herdman con nuevos ojos en esta alegre adaptación musical del divertido y conmovedor clásico navideño.

El 25º concurso anual de ortografía del condado de Putnam

Un grupo ecléctico de seis adolescentes compiten por el campeonato de ortografía de su vida. Mientras revelan con franqueza historias divertidas y conmovedoras de sus vidas familiares, los preadolescentes deletrean una serie de palabras (posiblemente inventadas), con la esperanza de no escuchar nunca el "ding" de la campana que destroza el alma, hace pucheros y no afirma la vida, que indica un error de ortografía. Seis deletreadores participan; ¡un deletreador sale campeón! Los perdedores reciben una caja de jugo. "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" es una diversión deliciosa llena de genio cómico.

Harry contrata a un joven e idealista periodista de revista para que le enseñe a Billie. Cuando Billie descubre qué clase de hombre es en realidad Harry, se rebela contra su intimidación y precipita una crisis que amenaza con derribar su corrupta empresa.

Cuando un fanático del teatro escucha su álbum favorito, los personajes cobran vida en su apartamento de Nueva York en esta divertidísima farsa musical. En el espectáculo dentro del espectáculo, conocemos a dos amantes en vísperas de su boda, un padrino de bodas incompetente, un productor de teatro desesperado, una anfitriona no muy brillante, dos gánsteres que se hacen pasar por pasteleros, un Don Juan descarriado y una chaperona ebria: todos los ingredientes para una parodia amorosa del musical de la Edad de Oro. “The Drowsy Chaperone” debutó en 1998 en Toronto y se estrenó en Broadway en 2006, donde ganó cinco premios Tony.

The roles of Peter Llewelyn Davies and Alice in Wonderland have been cast. All other roles available.
  
ALICE LIDDELL HARGREAVES. (Female presenting. Age Range: to play 80) An 80-year-old woman who is poised and stately, but also vulnerable and afraid of old age. Inspiration for the character of Alice in Wonderland.

LEWIS CARROLL/REV. CHARLES DODGSON.
(Male presenting. Age Range: 40’s) A gifted storyteller with a stammer who is also known as Rev Charles Dodgson.
 
JAMES BARRIE. (Male presenting. Age Range: 40’s) A wordsmith who is also an intoxicating but lonely figure.
 
PETER PAN. (Male presenting. Age Range: Teens-20’s) An eternal child who is full of bravado and nerve.
 
ARTHUR DAVIES/REGINOLD HARGREAVES/MICHAEL DAVIES. (Male presenting. Age Range: late 20’s-30’s) Requires an actor who can play 3 distinctly different roles.

The roles of Rona Lisa Peretti and Douglas Panch have been cast. All other roles available.
 
CHIP TOLENTINO. (Male presenting. Age Range: Adult to play teens) An athletic, social, boy scout and champion of the Twenty Fourth Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, he returns to defend his title, but he finds puberty hitting at an inopportune moment. Singing Range: Tenor.
 
LOGAINNE SCHWARTZANDGRUBENIERE (SCHWARTZY). (Female presenting. Age Range: Adult to play teens) Logainne is the youngest and most politically aware speller, often making comments about current political figures. She is driven by internal and external pressure, but above all by a desire to win to make her two fathers proud. She is somewhat of a neat freak, speaks with a lisp, and will be back next year. Singing Range: Mezzo.
 
LEAF CONEYBEAR. (Male presenting. Age Range: Adult to play teens) The second runner-up in his district, Leaf gets into the competition on a lark and finds everything about the bee incredibly amusing. He is home-schooled and comes from a large family of former hippies. He has severe Attention Deficit Disorder and spells words correctly while in a trance. Singing Range: Tenor.
 
WILLIAM BARFEE. (Male presenting. Age Range: Adult to play teens) A Putnam County Spelling Bee finalist last year, he was eliminated because of an allergic reaction to peanuts and is back for vindication. His famous "Magic Foot" method of spelling has boosted him to spelling glory, even though he only has one working nostril and a touchy, bullying personality. He develops a crush on Olive. Singing Range: Tenor.
 
MARCY PARK. (Female presenting. Age Range: Adult to play teens) The ultimate over-achiever, Marcy has never been given another option. She comes from a family where excellence is expected and so simply produced. A parochial school student, she assumes God, too, expects perfection. She sees herself as a mass of problems but she keeps them to herself. Having moved often because of her parents' work, she knows she can beat the local competition. Her many talents include piano, dance, martial arts, baton twirling, etc. Singing Range: Mezzo.
 
OLIVE OSTROVSKY. (Female presenting. Age Range: Adult to play teens) A young newcomer to competitive spelling. Her mother is in an ashram in India, and her father is working late, as usual, but he is trying to come sometime during the Bee. Having found comfort in its words and vastness, Olive made friends with her dictionary at a very young age, helping her to make it to the competition. She starts enormously shy, and slowly blossoms. Singing Range: Mezzo.
 
MITCH MAHONEY. (Male presenting. Age Range: 25-50) The Official Comfort Counselor. An ex-convict, Mitch is performing his community service with the Bee, and hands out juice boxes to losing students. He has no idea how to offer comfort, but does find himself wishing he could find a way to make the kids feel better. Singing Range: Tenor.  


Lucky Penny Productions is an all-volunteer organization. We do offer small travel stipends that range from $200-$500 (based on number of attended rehearsals and performances you attend). We are seeking a diverse group of performers of all ages, ethnicities, gender, and encourage anyone interested to submit.  For any additional questions please email luckypennycasting@gmail.com. As Napa Valley’s Premier Theatre Company, Lucky Penny Productions creates, develops and presents professional quality theatre, and fosters educational opportunities for youth and adults in our community. We are 501c3 non-profit organization.

The company was founded by Taylor Bartolucci and Barry Martin in 2009. In 2015, the Lucky Penny Community Arts Center opened. Our Mainstage Season presents seven to 10 fully staged productions each year from September to June, while our Napa Academy of Performing Arts offers training for youth and adults year 'round.

Our Community Arts Center is located at 1758 Industrial Way in Napa. It contains a 99-seat black box theatre, rehearsal room, and technical and storage areas.

Lucky Penny Productions was founded in Napa in 2009. Our first performances took place in the depot of the Napa Valley Wine Train in May of that year. A few months later we began producing shows in the Napa Valley Opera House and at Dreamweavers/Napa Valley Playhouse. Along the way we developed co-productions with 6th Street Playhouse in Santa Rosa and Spreckels Theatre Company in Rohnert Park. In January 2015 we opened the Lucky Penny Community Arts Center as the home for all our productions.
