10 min play fest logo"8 x 10: A Festival of 10 Minute Plays"

 “8 x 10: A Festival of 10-Minute Plays” was presented December 7-December 16, 2012 at the Napa Valley Playhouse in Napa. Eight short plays, chosen from 97 entries from all over the country, were produced for this inagural event.   

A selection committee of three experienced theatre artists from the region spent hours reading "blind" copies of the submissions and selected the eight plays, and also chose the winner of the  top festival prize “Gold Medal.” Members of the audience over the course of the run voted for the “People’s Choice” award winner. The authors of the "Gold Medal" and "People's Choice" awards received a $100 honorarium.

The eight winning plays and their authors are, in alphabetical order:

  • "Calliope" by Joseph Horst, Greenville NC
  • "Coat of Gold" by Susan Jackson, San Francisco CA
  • "Color" by Jerry Levitin, Napa CA
  • "Eternity" by Elan Garonzik, New York NY PEOPLE'S CHOICE WINNER
  • "The Hidden Cellar" by Daniel Weber, Great Neck NY
  • "The Terminal by Ron Burch, Los Angeles CA
  • "When Irish Eyes are Flirting" by Joe Starzyk, Troy, NY GOLD MEDAL WINNER
  • "Women of a Certain Age" by Barry Martin, Napa CA
